Our History
The Indianola Church saw a need for some sort of outreach ministry to reach college students and young adults in the Ohio State University off campus area, and thus, Coffee Underground was born! Coffee Underground opened in August of 2015. At the time, we had very limited hours due to the elementary school (Tree of Life) that used to be located in our building. Post covid we were able to expand our hours to include the mornings into evenings.
Who we are
Coffee Underground (as mentioned above) is an outreach of The Indianola Church. We aim to be a safe space for those in the community to come together. Whether it be to study, meet with friends, work on a group project, or just grab a drink to go, we want to be the go-to spot for you!
At Coffee Underground, our primary focus is our community. We’re here to support our neighborhood by opening up rooms for students and other groups to come together and enjoy great fellowship. Sustainability is one of our goals. In order to accomplish this, any cups, straws, and portion cups are fully compostable!
We host a variety of free community events so be sure to check our events tab regularly for more info!
What we Serve
At Coffee Underground we serve coffee from various Columbus based roasters including Jennings Java, Royal Flamingo, and One Line Coffee.
We offer a variety of espresso based drinks including but not limited to cortados, lattes, and cappucinos as well as pour overs and drip coffee from the above roasters. We also offer non-coffee drinks such as various teas, hot chocolate, and matcha.
We offer a few food items such as sandwiches, bagels, grab and go snacks, and baked goods (based on availability).
